Tom Martell is a very experienced Sierra Club guide and former steering committee chair. He is also a member of the California Alpine Club, Mt. Tamalpais Preservation Council, The Sierra Historical Society and the San Francisco & Marin County Visitors Bureau. Tom gives talks in the park on behalf of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.
His life has been built around his love for the the redwood trees and Muir Woods in particular. No one knows more about the terrain, the history, the lore and the biology because this is not just a job for Tom, its his life. He is unwavering in his commitment to the preservation of these magnificent redwoods and their unique ecosystem . Tom really knows what he is talking about.
Also an avid world traveler, Tom has hiked in over 35 countries. He understands the needs of walkers and hikers, young and old - and he makes you feel very much at home.
